Professional Pool Winterization & Closing Services

The most important service of the year is the one that happens when you aren't swimming. Winter is the enemy of swimming pools. Expanding ice can crack pipes, split filters, and destroy pumps in a single night. Don't leave your pool’s safety to chance. Blue Bottom Pools uses industrial-grade equipment to lock your pool down tight, ensuring it survives the cold and wakes up healthy in the spring.

The "Safe & Secure" Closing Process

We don't just throw on the cover. We perform a systematic "blowout" of your plumbing system to ensure no water is left to freeze.

Our Winterizing Service Includes:

  • Water Level Management: We lower the water to the appropriate winterizing level to protect the skimmer and tile line.
  • The "Big Blowout": We use high-volume industrial air blowers (not just shop vacs) to purge every drop of water from your return lines, skimmers, main drains, and water features.
  • Plugging the Lines: We install winter plugs and "Gizzmos" to seal the plumbing against water re-entry.
  • Equipment Draining: We pull the drain plugs on your pump, filter, heater, and salt cell to ensure no water is trapped inside the machinery.
  • Winter Chemicals: We add a heavy-duty winter chemical kit (algaecide and shock) to prevent staining and algae growth during the off-season.
  • Cover Installation: We secure your safety cover or tarp, adjusting the springs and anchors for a tight, safe fit.

Why You Need a Professional Closure

  • Industrial Equipment: A standard home air compressor isn't strong enough to clear deep plumbing lines. Our equipment guarantees the lines are dry.
  • Heater Protection: Pool heaters are complex and sensitive to cold. We know exactly how to drain the heat exchanger to prevent expensive cracks.
  • Peace of Mind: Sleep soundly during the first snowstorm knowing your pipes are safe.

How to Prepare for Your Closing

To ensure the best results, please help us with the following before our arrival:
  1. Clean the Pool: Please ensure the pool is vacuumed and free of leaves.
    • > Note: Closing a dirty pool guarantees a green, stained pool in the spring. If you need us to vacuum before closing, please schedule a separate cleaning visit.
  2. Clear the Deck: Please remove pool toys, thermometers, and floats from the water.
  3. Access: Ensure the gate is unlocked and the winter cover is accessible (e.g., left on the pool deck).

Winter Watch Service

Worried about the water level rising during winter rains? Ask about our Winter Watch add-on! We will stop by mid-winter to pump water off the cover and check that the water level inside the pool hasn't risen too high (which can touch the tile and cause cracking).

Beat the First Frost

Our schedule fills up instantly once the leaves start to change. Book your closing date now to ensure you aren't left out in the cold.
