What You Need to Get the Most from Your S3 Omni

🔌 System Requirements — We'll Review These at Installation

Wi-Fi or Ethernet

Requires a reliable 2.4GHz Wi-Fi signal or Ethernet connection at the equipment pad. The controller includes a 15 ft wireless radio cord for optimal signal placement.

Variable Speed Pump

Hayward VSPs connect natively via RS-485 digital connection. Pentair VSPs require a separate converter kit. Single-speed pumps require a Hayward Smart Relay (HLH485RELAY, sold separately).

Temperature Sensors

A water temperature sensor is required for heater control and is often sold separately. An air temperature sensor is needed for freeze protection automation — ask us about including both at installation.

Genuine S3 Cells Only

Compatible exclusively with genuine Hayward T-CELL-S3 series cells (S315, S325, S350). Non-genuine cells can damage the controller board and void all warranty coverage.

⚠️ Single-Speed Pump? You'll Need a Smart Relay. The S3 Omni controls variable-speed pumps directly — but if your current pump is a single-speed model, a Hayward Smart Relay (HLH485RELAY) is required to enable on/off control through the app. Ask us about adding one to your installation quote.

❄️ NEPA Freeze Protection — A Real Value Here. The S3 Omni supports automated freeze protection when an air temperature sensor is installed — the system can automatically run the pump when temperatures approach freezing, protecting your plumbing during early spring and late fall. This is especially valuable in Northeast Pennsylvania where overnight freezes in April and October catch pool owners off guard. Ask about adding the air sensor at installation.
